Article Response

I think the article was well written, i liked how they put "texting slang" at the begining.I think it's alright to have cell phones in class to an extent, however i think the fact that our generation relys on them is quite pathetic. I think it's nice to have a cell phone, but it shouldn't be a requirement. I think if someone whips out a phone in class and they miss something important, it's their own fault, and teachers shouldn't care because they can't do anything about it. If a person finds the class boring they wont be paying attention regardless if they're texting or not. Texting is just what people do when they're bored and i think people can pay attention and text at the same time. I think texting dilemas have been blown way out of proportion. If texting in class weren't such a forbidon fruit maybe people wouldn't try to hide it so much and do it all the time. The world will catch on soon enough

  1. Very good points, Taylor. I like the forbidden fruit comparison; it makes sense. I agree that texting is just the "newer" version of students passing notes in class. The only time it really bugs me is if I or another student is talking to the class or, obviously, during major assignments or tests. At the end of class if your work is done, it's not a big deal.

All of this technology has certainly brought up new things for teachers to figure out.
